The School of Historical and Regional Studies at the University of Haifa brings together six departments across historical and related disciplines, providing a collaborative academic home for scholars and students examining the past through broad, interdisciplinary lenses. As a leading academic center, the School offers comprehensive B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs that integrate classic historical methodology with modern approaches in cultural, social, political, and spatial analysis.
Our internationally recognized faculty specializes in diverse regions and eras—from antiquity to modern times, spanning the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, as well as Biblical Studies and Jewish Philosophy.
The School prioritizes critical thinking, advanced research literacy, and deep analytical capabilities. Beyond rigorous classroom instruction, students engage directly with cutting-edge historiography through conferences, guest lectures, seminars, and field excursions. In a dynamic, inquiry-driven environment, the School aims to train the next generation of historians while actively contributing to public discourse on identity, national and global heritage, and the forces shaping Israeli society today.
